Xourichti is located at an altitude of 550m. from the sea and 50km far from Volos through Milies. It is a small, peaceful and lush village of the North-East Pelion, which its name is probably related to the fact that is is built on a slope with many winds (in Greek this can be described metaphorically by the verb "xirizei").
From this village starts the deepest and most impressive gorge of Pelion, the so called gorge of Koutra or Tsounaga, at the bottom of which flows the Milopotamos.
It is located directly across Tsagarada and it is nowadays the north point of entrance in the Municipality of Zagora, with a panoramic view of Skiathos, Skopelos and Alonissos.
Limnionas is the beach of Xourichti (with sand, cool waters, natural beauty).
Almost at the entrance of the village and across the gas station on the central road, there is the road that leads to the main square and in the south to the stream of Varsamis.
It is worth crossing the old bridge that connects Xourichti with Tsagarada and visiting the church of "Koimiseos Theotokou", which is dated back to 17th. century and is famous for its post-byzantine icons and its carved in wood iconostasis.
Do not miss to visit also the village at late October (usually in the last weekend of October), when the festival of chestnuts is organized, with plenty of wine, delicacies based on chestnut, traditional dancing, and an exhibition of products by local producers.
