The village Agria is located on the northeast coast of the Pagasitikos Gulf, very close to Volos (only 8km). To be more precise it does not constitute a village, but a city, given that its residents are about 10,000. In the past, Agria used to be the port of Drakeia and Agios Lavrentios, where the production of oil and olives of the area was taken on cargo.
During the Turkish occupation, and due to the increase of production, significant works of infrastructure were made in the area, among which storerooms for goods, a jetty, a customs house, and therefore over the years Agria flourished significantly.
The factory of the company ΕΨΑ, which produces soft drinks of high quality, resides hire as well as the Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of Pelion, with its huge storerooms. Agria is characterized by a vivid life during the winter and the summer.
If you follow the coastal road to the South, you will arrive in 1km to the beach Soutrali, which is a bit far from the central road, but offers by many options of catering for every taste. Nevertheless, the majority of cafés, bars and taverns are located in the old port, where the nightlife of Volos takes place too.
It is worth being in Agria during the "fishing night", held in late July with traditional dances, songs and of course plenty of fish (traditionally fish soup is offered).
