The village Pinakates is located next to Vizitsa. It is very beautiful and picturesque, with manor houses and castles, comparable to those of Vizitsa.
It could be argued that one of the main reasons for the tourist development of the area is its easy access, due to the construction and the asphalting of the road from Vizitsa to Pinakates, which until recently stopped in Vizitsa.
The dilapidated manor houses were renewed and some of them were transformed to very nice guest houses. In the past, Pinakates belonged administratively to the neighbouring village of Agios Georgios.
The first written reference to Pinakates can be found in the book “Geographia Neoteriki” by Maniel Phillipidis and Grigorios Konstantas (Vienna, 1791). There, it is mentioned that the village has approximately one hundred houses, which reveals that it had been built much earlier.
The local church of Agios Dimitrios, located at the village’s square, celebrates on the 29th of August, while the celebration of the other local church, Agios Athanasios, takes plave on May 2nd. Additionally, at the central square one can see the interesting, from an architectural point of view, neoclassical fountain. It was built in 1894 as a donation of the brothers Tsirogianni, who had emigrated in Egupt, and until today it offers cool water from the spring "Dokana" to the visitors.
